Hospital Appointments & Tests

I cannot attend my Hospital Appointment

Please let the hospital know in good time.

Not letting the hospital know that you cannot attend is a pure waste of resources and does not help the waiting times for appointments.

THINK BEFORE YOU CANCEL/OR JUST DO NOT ATTEND APPOINTMENTS, YOU MAY GO BACK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST OR YOU CAN BE TAKEN OFF AND HAVE TO BE RE-REFERRED BY THE GP.

Hospital Transport for Appointments

If you are disabled and cannot get out of the house without difficult we are able to arrange transport for hospital appointments. This has to be approved by the doctor and is very limited.

When you receive your appointment date please telephone the receptionist to arrange transport. This must be at least 48 hours before the visit is due to enable the ambulance service to utilise their limited resources.

If you have a friend or relative who can take you this would be preferable as the ambulance has to go to several addresses before getting you to the hospital. They start collecting patients at 8.30am in the morning and 12.30pm for the afternoon.

Hospital Tests

Pathology Tests, X-Rays, ECGs (Heart Tests) & Ultrasounds

All the above tests are done at the Hospital and when you receive your Pathology Forms it will advise on the back the time the Departments are open.

Most departments are open from 9am to 4pm every day.

Some pathology tests are done in pre-booked appointments at the surgery but only from 9am to 9.45am because we have a porter who collects the specimens from the Hospital who comes at 10am.
